Volvo has officially unveiled the EX60, a new all-electric midsize SUV that signals a major step forward in the company’s EV strategy. Designed to balance long driving range, ultra-fast charging, intelligent software, and premium in-car entertainment, the EX60 is positioned as a core model in Volvo’s electric future.

The EX60 enters the lineup between the compact EX40 and the three-row EX90, effectively taking over from the combustion-powered XC60. With family practicality at its core, the new electric SUV is aimed directly at tech-focused buyers considering rivals such as the Tesla Model Y and BMW iX3.

A key model in Volvo’s electric roadmap

The EX60 is built on Volvo’s latest SPA3 800-volt electric platform, which allows for improved efficiency, reduced weight, and higher charging speeds. The company is also using modern manufacturing techniques like mega casting and cell-to-body battery integration to improve structural rigidity while maximizing interior space.

Volvo will offer the EX60 in three different trims. The P6 model features rear-wheel drive, while the P10 and P12 variants come with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The top-tier P12 trim is the most performance-focused option, packing a 117 kWh battery that delivers up to 400 miles of EPA-estimated range, with WLTP figures stretching as high as 502 miles.

Power output on the P12 reaches 670 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, allowing the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The P10 version uses a 95 kWh battery with an estimated range of around 320 miles, while the entry-level P6 trim includes an 83 kWh pack capable of roughly 310 miles on a full charge.

Ultra-fast charging across the lineup

All EX60 variants support high-speed DC charging at up to 400 kW. Under ideal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 19 minutes. Volvo says this rate is enough to add up to 173 miles of driving range in just 10 minutes when connected to a compatible high-power charger.

This charging capability places the EX60 among the faster-charging electric SUVs currently announced, making it more practical for long-distance travel and daily commuting alike.

Gemini AI brings conversational control inside the cabin

One of the EX60’s most notable features is its software. It becomes the first Volvo vehicle to integrate Google’s Gemini AI directly into the infotainment system. The AI-powered assistant allows drivers to interact with navigation, climate settings, media playback, and other vehicle functions using more natural, conversational voice commands.

Rather than relying on rigid prompts, Gemini AI is designed to understand context and intent, making in-car interactions feel smoother and more intuitive. The system is built into Volvo’s existing Google-based infotainment environment, expanding on features already familiar to Android Automotive users.

The interior itself reflects Volvo’s Scandinavian design philosophy, focusing on clean lines, sustainable materials, and a calm, comfortable layout intended for long drives.

Premium audio with Dolby Atmos support

Another standout feature inside the EX60 is its high-end audio system. Volvo has equipped the SUV with a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound setup designed to deliver a studio-like listening experience. The system supports Dolby Atmos, adding depth and spatial clarity to compatible tracks.

Apple Music comes pre-installed, allowing drivers to access immersive audio content directly without relying on a connected smartphone. The sound system is tuned specifically for the EX60’s cabin acoustics, making it one of the most advanced factory audio setups offered in a Volvo vehicle to date.

Safety technology and long-term ownership focus

Safety remains a central pillar of the EX60. The SUV includes Volvo’s latest crash protection systems powered by the HuginCore computing platform, which continuously monitors vehicle dynamics and surroundings to enhance occupant protection.

Volvo is also backing the EX60 with a 10-year battery warranty, reinforcing confidence in the vehicle’s long-term durability and electric drivetrain reliability.

Production timeline and expected pricing

Production of the EX60 P6 and P10 trims is scheduled to begin in Sweden in late spring, with deliveries in the United States expected by summer. The higher-performance P12 model will arrive at a later date.

While official pricing has not been confirmed, industry estimates suggest the P10 trim could start around $60,000, placing it competitively within the midsize electric SUV segment. The P12 variant is expected to command a higher price due to its extended range and performance upgrades.
