Samsung’s transition into the Qi2 era appears to be moving in a more magnetic direction. Alongside cleaner hardware design and official first-party accessories, the shift also highlights slower wireless charging speeds and pricing that puts Samsung in direct competition with established third-party brands.
The Galaxy S25 lineup was described as “Qi2-ready,” meaning the phones required a magnetic case or compatible accessory to take advantage of Qi2 wireless charging. That approach may change with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Current reports suggest Samsung is preparing to fully integrate Qi2 compatibility directly into the phones themselves.
According to recent leaks, every Galaxy S26 model is expected to feature a built-in circular magnetic ring beneath the rear panel. This internal magnetic profile would allow Qi2 accessories such as wallets, chargers, and battery packs to snap into place securely without requiring an external case.
Images shared by the German publication WinFuture indicate that Samsung is also preparing its own official magnetic accessory to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup.
A 5,000mAh Qi2 power bank that costs more than expected
WinFuture reports that Samsung is working on a new accessory called the Magnetic Wireless Powerbank EB-U2500. The leaked images show what appears to be Samsung’s first Qi2-based battery pack designed specifically for its upcoming phones.
The power bank reportedly has a 5,000mAh capacity and supports 15W wireless output using the Qi2 standard. While Qi2 offers magnetic alignment, its charging speed remains slower than newer solutions like the Qi2.2 standard or Apple’s MagSafe technology, both of which can deliver up to 25W under ideal conditions.
When connected via the included USB-C to USB-C cable, the battery pack can provide up to 20W of wired output. The device also supports USB Power Delivery and Qualcomm Quick Charge, making it compatible with a wide range of smartphones beyond Samsung’s own lineup, as long as they support Qi2, USB PD, or QC standards.
Design-wise, the leaked images show a compact power bank with a soft off-white or light gray finish and a lightly textured surface. The front panel includes Samsung branding, five LED indicator lights to show remaining battery life, and a built-in metallic kickstand that allows the phone to stand upright while charging.
On the right edge, there appears to be a dedicated power button, while the back features a circular magnetic ring that aligns with the magnetic system inside the Galaxy S26. The same accessory should also work with Galaxy S25 models when paired with Samsung’s magnetic charging case.
Pricing puts Samsung up against strong rivals
In Germany, the Magnetic Wireless Powerbank EB-U2500 is expected to retail for €59.90, which converts to roughly $70. This pricing places it at the higher end of the market for a 5,000mAh wireless battery pack.
For comparison, the Anker Nano 5,000mAh Qi2 power bank is available on Amazon for a noticeably lower price, while Anker’s MagGo 10,000mAh Qi2 battery pack offers double the capacity for only slightly more money. These alternatives make Samsung’s pricing strategy stand out, especially given the relatively modest battery size.
Despite the premium price, the leak strengthens expectations that Qi2 charging will play a central role in Samsung’s next generation of smartphones. The presence of an official magnetic power bank suggests Samsung is committed to building a complete Qi2 accessory ecosystem rather than relying entirely on third-party manufacturers.
If the reports hold true, the Galaxy S26 series could mark Samsung’s first full step into native magnetic wireless charging, supported by official accessories designed to match its hardware vision.
