Sennheiser’s new TV headphones aim to fix weak TV speakers with a dedicated wireless transmitter

Built specifically for television listening, Sennheiser has introduced its new RS 275 wireless TV headphone bundle, designed for viewers who struggle with thin TV speakers but do not want to invest in a full home theater setup. Paired with a compact Bluetooth transmitter, the system focuses on clearer dialogue, fuller sound, and a more comfortable way to watch TV for long periods.

If you have ever felt that your television audio lacks depth or that dialogue gets lost during movies and shows, this new setup is meant to offer a more focused alternative. Unlike standard over-ear headphones built for commuting or casual music listening, the RS 275 is tuned specifically for TV audio and home use.

Designed for TV listening, not daily travel

At the center of the bundle are the HDR 275 over-ear wireless headphones. According to the company, they are optimized for speech clarity while still delivering controlled bass for movies, sports, and live broadcasts. Sennheiser notes that the headphones are lightweight, comparing their feel to an everyday TV remote, which makes them suitable for extended viewing sessions.

The ear cushions are breathable to reduce fatigue during long binge-watching nights, and the physical controls are built directly into the headphones. Users can adjust volume, power the device on or off, and manage calls without relying on on-screen menus or touch controls.

Battery life is another key focus. The HDR 275 headphones are rated for up to 50 hours on a single charge, which translates to roughly two weeks of regular TV use for many households.

App support and long-term usability

The headphones can be paired with Sennheiser’s Smart Control Plus app, which allows users to fine-tune the listening experience. The app includes a customizable equalizer, adjustable transparency settings, selectable noise suppression modes, and other sound personalization tools.

Sennheiser has also designed the RS 275 with longevity in mind. Both the ear cushions and the battery are user-replaceable, helping extend the lifespan of the headphones rather than forcing early replacement.

Beyond television use, the HDR 275 can connect to other Bluetooth Classic or Auracast-enabled devices, including smartphones and tablets. This makes it possible to listen to music or stream content in different rooms without switching headphones.

The Auracast TV transmitter explained

Included in the box is the BTA1 TV transmitter, which uses Bluetooth Auracast technology based on the LC3 audio codec. The transmitter is designed to deliver low-latency wireless audio over distances of up to 50 meters, making it suitable for larger living spaces.

The transmitter supports HDMI ARC, optical, and 3.5 mm audio inputs, allowing it to work with modern smart TVs as well as older models. Physically, it resembles a small remote and sits on a compact metal stand included with the bundle. Buttons on the transmitter let users switch between inputs and sound modes, including options for virtual surround sound and enhanced speech clarity.

One practical advantage of the Auracast setup is multi-listener support. A single transmitter can broadcast audio to multiple compatible headphones at the same time, which can be useful for shared viewing without disturbing others.

Availability and pricing

Sennheiser’s RS 275 wireless TV headphone bundle is scheduled to open for preorders on February 3, 2026, with a listed price of $299.95. For users who already own Auracast-compatible headphones, the BTA1 transmitter will also be sold separately.
